According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, “STEM related occupations are projected to grow to more than 9 million between 2012 and 2022”. With that being said, there is a need to make STEM related occupations an option for underprivileged youth that may or may not be exposed to the core subjects that lead to careers related to those areas. Through a Partnership with the Mario Butler Foundation and the YMCA at DuPont, an exciting new program will be introduced on June 10th, 2019 to get students excited about STEM, but through a new avenue that integrates Sports and STEM, which has not yet been explored in Northeast Florida. This is a Pilot  program that will collect data through various methods that aims to show the effectiveness of utilizing modern day Sports to help drive student’s into STEM related occupations!
